What’s YOUR Definition of The INTERNET LIFESTYLE?

March 2, 2009

Straight from the Underground! Yanik Silver put together another AMAZING event at his Underground Online Seminar #5! I was overwhelmed and impressed by the high-caliber of individuals that Yanik attracted during this weekend.

The Big Question:

So the Big Question is: Does The Internet Lifestyle Exist, or are we just chasing the elusive Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow?

Is it all about sleeping in until noon and working three hours a day in your pajamas? Well…maybe, but to find out for sure, we asked some of the biggest Internet Marketing today one question:

What’s YOUR Definition of The Internet Lifestyle?

A Mastermind with Bryan Elliott of ASN

January 3, 2009

While Bartending (my night job) a Private Party, I was introduced to Bryan Elliott, the founder of Action Sports Network. I quickly decided that we needed to pick Bryan’s brain so we could learn as much from him as possible.

We set up an Interview with Bryan and the rest of the gang to learn more about him and his marketing experience. We were surprised to see how he has harnessed the power of Social Media to create a following of 900+ members in just under three months. And it was this past December that he held his FIRST Live Event for his Networking Group: So-Cal Action Sports Network. This group consists of CEO’s, Small Business Owners, Marketing Directors and other Entrepreneurs who fall into the Market of “Action Sports.” This includes anything from Surf & Skate apparel to energy drinks and music.

What We Learned From Bryan:

In just one hour of interviewing Bryan, we were able to grab some pretty powerful stuff! But what amazed us the most was Bryan’s humility. Although he founded Action Sports Network and built it from the ground up, he does not seek power or credit for his accomplishments. Instead, he looks at himself as a servant of the Networking Group, and that the real focus is on the members and where THEY want to take ASN.

It is this attitude and mindset that one MUST have in order to be successful with Social Media. Put your group and members first. Listen to their wants and needs and simply fulfill them.

Bryan Elliott used LinkedIn to obtain over 900 members in under three months. We are all excited to see what he will accomplish in 2009.

Bryan will be featured on our Webisode Series: realityMASTERMIND which will be debuting this Spring 2009! Watch out for him, and many other EXPERTS who are helping us along the path as we go from zeros to Internet Marketing Heros!

Learning to Write Sales Letters

December 12, 2008

On our continuing quest to make money on the Internet, we met with Eric Farewell, a young, energetic entrepreneur who has been in this crazy Internet Marketing World for almost 10 years now! We learned some excellent things about how to BRAND our business as well as some excellent Copywriting and super-sneaky & effective Marketing Tactics!

But the most beneficial thing he did was hand us a copy of his newest product: 1 Click Sales Sites. In a nutshell, it is everything you need to make the SICKEST looking Sales Letter Websites. I quickly dubbed these designs: Beyond Web 2.0 in style.

If you want to see just how GREAT these pre-made themes look, just check out the website www.1ClickSalesSites.com. He used one of the themed templates on his OWN Sales Letter.

Oh by the way! Eric also told us a thing or two about “Affiliate Marketing!” We actually get paid 30% if you use our link when you purchase 1ClickSalesSites. Pretty frickin’ cool, huh?!

So, check it out: www.1ClickSalesSites.com

And here is the Testimonial I shot of my review of the Product:

The Mastermind-Mindset: A Lesson in Thought-Shifting

December 2, 2008

On our never-ending quest for achieving the “Internet Lifestyle,” this past Monday we met with Success-Coach & Mentor Pam Ragland, who taught us a little about thought-shifting and removing Success Blocks!

PamRagland1

Starting a new Business Venture on a relatively new medium (The Internet), we had NO IDEA that we had pre-conceived beliefs in our Sub-Conscious. Personally, growing up with parents who worked extremely hard for every penny they earned, I have always correlated “making money” and “success” with HARD WORK!

Pam was the first to point out that a thought like that is simply not an Absolute Truth and can actually hold you back on your path to Success. This whole idea of eliminating “limiting beliefs” was really intriguing to all of us, because we realized it was the power of the Internet that is really able to eliminate this “Old Way” of thinking.

The Power of The Internet

We really are in a time of Incredible Change! If you have read books such as The World is Flat and The 4-Hour Workweek, you know just what I am talking about. For the first time in history, WE ALL have the ability to empower ourselves with the knowledge and skills to build a business and change the World!

My autoresponder will automatically send e-mails to subcribers while my Virtual Assistants in the Philippines are bookmarking my blog posts and performing draining data-entry tasks. In the meantime, I am talking in real-time with my programmer in India as he works on my new website. That of course, which leaves me to do what I love doing most: …nothing!

Pam’s advice was eye-opening and very inspiring. She asked great questions that caused us to second-guess these beliefs that we all had about work, success and life. “Why does work have to be hard?” “Do you want to spend the rest of your life working 16 hour days? Is that your definition of Success?”

I pass on a bit of Pam’s wisdom and advice to you now: Next time you sit down to tackle an assignment, whether it is writing a blog post, creating a new product, or cleaning your room, ask yourself “How can I make this process as effortless as possible?” Chances are, you shouldn’t be working as hard as you are!

Pam Ragland will be featured as a guest on realityMASTERMIND when it airs in the Spring of 2009. In the meantime, you can learn more at www.PamRagland.com & www.AskPamRagland.com. Get on her list and tune in to her FREE UStream Calls every Tuesday!

Planes, Trains & Autoresponders!

November 6, 2008

James-Tired/Hungry If ever there were a misleading blog post, this would probably be it! So, let’s see if I can make this post tie into the title and make it all relevant.

This past week we had yet another successful Mastermind Meeting! Six hours of intense learning, brain-storming and idea-swapping can really fly by! But this meeting was special because we brought with us a Guest-Masterminder!

Guest Masterminder: Dave “RC” Powers

We were so blessed to have Dave with us this past weekend for so many reasons. For starters, he assured me that: YES! Money can be made online outside of the Internet Marketing or Business Opportunity niche. (Phew!)

Dave Powers is the creator of RCPowers.com and he designs, builds, & flies anything and everything remote controlled that can fly (Hey, like PLANES!) He is contacted by the largest RC companies month after month where they ask him to build their planes and take video of him flying them! I know what you are thinking, and the answer is Yes! Dave gets paid Big Bucks to fly around toy airplanes for a living! Anything is possible!

But Dave is so unique because he never really learned Internet Marketing from the Gurus. He didn’t purchase some big course and follow it step-by-step. THIS GUY DOESN’T EVEN HAVE AN AUTORESPONDER! Instead, he just had a true PASSION for something he loved (playing with toy planes) and he continued to work at it.

Today, his biggest success comes from YOUTUBE where he is Constantly rated in the Top 5 of the Science & Technology Category and he gets a minimum of 50,000 views a day! He is killin’ it!

But you want to know the coolest thing? When he left at the end of our meeting, he actually thanked us! He thought our meeting was really informative and constructive and he walked away with a big to-do list for getting his business to the next level!

Some Quick Lessons from Dave:

I wouldn’t dare write a post without giving some great Take-Away Content that you could use in your business. Although we learned sooo much from him in 6 hours that it is impossible to write it all down here, I want to give some great bullet points.

1. Build The 2-Way Relationship!

Dave’s list was build through Subscribers on Youtube, not a traditional autoresponder. Although this is not recommended, he is able to go in and look at his subscribers and learn a lot from them by the videos they post and the views they enjoy. He is taking the time to get to know them, and he creates his videos, webpages, etc based on what his customers want.

He also encourages questions from his customers. These questions (which he takes the time to answer himself) formulate the next steps in his business. Your customer will tell you exactly what they are looking for without even knowing it! You have to do more than just listen to your customers, you have to deliver!!

2. Find Something & Stick With it:

Dave defined Social Media with an analogy of planting several seeds in a garden: You won’t see the immediate effects right away, but if you water them regularly, eventually you will see that growth. Even more so, you may notice that some areas of your garden are growing incredibly while some areas quickly die. Don’t continue to spread yourself too thin in areas that lack growth. Instead, focus on your award-winning plants: give them the attention they need to prosper even further. For Dave, his Prize Crop was YOUTUBE. What’s your prize crop?

3. Rapport-Building

And finally, Dave stressed the fact that the reason he has remained successful is that his customers know and trust him. He has the patience to take the time and build rapport with everyone in his community. When he recommends a company’s RC Plane he spends hours doing research on that company. He then puts each product through rigorous tests before he even brings it to the public on YouTube. He has never promoted a bad product, and has never had an angry, unsatisfied customer. Remember, news spreads fast on this thing called the Internet, it is up to you if you want that to be good or bad news.

Strippers, Black Jack & Internet Marketing

October 24, 2008

James Wedmore There are few words in the English language that cause you to perk your head up, drop whatever you are doing, and drive for six hours through the hot desert. For myself and just about any 21-30 year old, whispering the magic word “Vegas” into your ear ilicites thoughts of debauchery, escape, and riches!

It is difficult for me to escape the Siren’s call to Sin City, yet this LAST trip to Vegas was not intended for gambling, drinking, and well…you know…

Instead, I found myself in a large conference room for three days with over 100 brilliant minds as we feaverishly took notes, networked, and shared information in what was infamously labeled JV Alert. Ken McArthur orchestrated a brilliant event with a very unique dynamic.

Carrie (Barefoot-Exec) & James W.

Carrie Wilkerson (The Barefoot-Exec) & James Wedmore

JVALERT: Las Vegas!

As the name implies, JV Alert encourages socializing, or as I like to say, “working the room.” And for myself and the two mastermind members I dragged along (yes, I tricked them into thinking this was just another crazy weekend out on the strip until 6am every night) we found our value in the relationships we created!

We were honored by the presence of Carrie Wilkerson (The Barefoot Executive), The Legendary Joe Sugarman, Dave Lakhani, Brad Semp, Robin & Lee Collins, Paul Counts, Felicia Slattery, Mari Smith, & soo many others!!

Pee Wee’s Word of The Day:

What I’ve noticed while I have started to attend these IM Conferences, is that there is a universal theme or lesson that becomes your major Take-Away. There really was a “Word of The Day” that was hammered home by Carrie Wilkerson and others while on stage during their presentations. That word (or words) was “MASSIVE ACTION!”

For some reason, as I write this, haunting childhood imagesof a crazy Pee Wee Herman are conjoured up in my head. I feel that everytime I say the term “Massive Action,” my furniture will come to life and go insane with screams and laughter while a middle-aged Petaphile in a tacky suit & bow-tie is going to yell, “Ah! You just said the Word of the Day!”

But seriously, the terms “Massive Action” & “Action-Taker” were tossed around so much, that if I didn’t change my mindset, I should just pack up my bags and quit right now.

How do you Take Massive-Action?

I wish I really had an answer to this…but it is the question I ask myself everyday as I look down at an endless To-Do List. “How do I Take Massive Action Today?” I am extremely new in all of this, but in the beginning (yes a few months ago) I would build the website myself, design the graphics, write the copy, submit the articles (that I wrote) and every other mundane task that could be done for $4-8/hour.

It has been difficult to make this shift in my mindset, and trust me, I have been kicking and screaming like a little child the whole time. It is not as easy as you think to just “let go” and let others do the work that you know you can do better. But my time is valuable! It can’t be wasted submitting this blog post to bookmarking sites.

So, obviously outsourcing is the answer. Right Now I am trying to build a “team” of Virtual Assistants, graphic designers, and programmers who can do all the work that just zap me dry of time and energy. Yes I am running into countless new problems such as poor communication, missed deadlines, and dishonest employees, but I’m moving forward, nonetheless!

The Massive Action Mindset!

I have a long way to go before I can consider myself a Massive Action Taker, but I am headed in the right direction. To me, when an idea pops into your head, you have to act on it immediatly! Take the neccessary steps to delegate assignments and make it happen NOW! I am all about seeing an idea become a reality. Find that path of least resistance and make yours a reality too!

My father always told me that “Time is of the Essence!” well, I don’t really know what he meant by that…except that he always said it (or yelled it) to me when I was dragging my feet or taking my sweet ole’ time. But another axiom he banged into my head as a small child was, “Time is Money.” Did it really take a weekend in Vegas with a hundred other marketers saying the EXACT same thing for me to realize what my dad was talking about all these years?

And the worst part? I have to go back to my dad and say those dreaded words, “Gee Dad, all those years you harped on me with those lessons and cliche quotes…well you were right!” <–This will be a moment my Dad has already forseen and can’t wait for!! Time to put the ego aside and have a talk with good old Pops.

Stayed tuned for the PREMIER episode of realityMASTERMIND, coming soon!!

-A Random Rant by James Wedmore

P.S. In case you are wondering, we did make it out The Strip where I won $200 playing BlackJack and an additional Hundy on Roulette (always bet on Black!)

Illuminate 2008: Christian Internet Marketer’s Conference

October 23, 2008

James Wedmore A few weeks ago, I boarded a plane and headed to San Francisco to join Alejandro Reyes (The Successfool), Joel Comm, Jermaine Griggs, Jeff Mills, Jason Marshall, Paul Counts, Eric Farewell, Justin Brooke, Steve Beck, Gary Zeleski & so many others, in the FIRST ever Christian Internet Marketing Conference at Alejandro’s Illuminate Conference 2008.

Why Christian Marketing?

It really doesn’t matter what religious background you have, or what you believe in.  But in a fast-paced world such as the Internet, where the scammers & spammers out-number the honesty & trustworthy marketers, it is important to start your Online Business with a strong foundation with Proper Values.

The Man Alejandro Reyes

Alejandro "Successfool" Reyes & James Wedmore

Joel Comm and others reminded us that Money is NOT the Root of all Evil…”It is the LOVE of Money” that is the root.  So whether you are just taking your first step into this uncertain terrain of Online Marketing, or you have spent years living the successful Internet Lifestyle, ask yourself, why are you doing this?  What motivates you?  Greater success will come to those who have a deeper purpose than just “I want a big house, expensive car, and All-Access Membership to the Country Club.

Personally, the Illuminate conference helped me discover what some of my motivating principles are, that keep me going late at night, when I’m tired and should probably be sleeping.  Hopefully, in our show, you will discover that all of the Mastermind members are doing what they are doing for more than just the money.  It is all about discovering your reason “why?”

My Big Take-Away:

If the choice comes down to purchasing the next hot product or software program that has been offered by the top marketers or attending a Live Event…I will always go LIVE!  Why?  No expensive home study course or step-by-step guide will ever replace the amazing and powerful relationships that are created while in a room of like-minded indivuals.  So many JV relationships, friendships, and product ideas were created that weekend by the attendees, I was just overwhelmed!  Even though I was on information-overload, there was one gleaming lesson to be learned, that I had yet to take in to consideration.  I literally needed a big sign to hit me over the head a few times before I realized what needed to change in my business…

OUTSOURCE!  Thanks to Jeff Mills and many others, the word of the day (all three days) was Outsource!  For many, including myself, outsourcing and outtasking is a very difficult concept to grasp, and requires a difficult shift in your mindset that has left me kicking and screaming the entire time.

James Wedmore & Justin Brooke w/ SiteFLING.com

Justin Brooke (SiteFling.com)

First, realize just how important your time is!  Once you put a monetary value on your hourly rate, you look at a $20/hour programmer in a whole new light! For me, the real difficult part came in realizing I would just have to let go!  I wanted to do it all…and I mean do it ALL!  From programming, graphic design, writing, etc, I fealt that no one can do it as well as I can…ya, totally wrong!!

So it is still a difficult transition for me: I have already gone through 3 Virtual Assistants in 2 weeks(I love ODesk.com), but I am building trustful relationships with the ones that stay.  More and more of those energy-sucking, mundane daily tasks are being lifted…and I am left to focus my energy on areas that are most profitable (and enjoyable!).  I think my road to living the Internet Lifestyle just took one giant leap forward…although I still feel like I have a long ways to go!
